Council Tax Reduction usually starts from the Monday after we receive your application.
You can ask for your application to be backdated, up to 6 months. You'll need to provide a reason for your request. If you have not asked for this in your application, you can also:

If you have reached State Pension age, your application will be automatically backdated for a maximum of 3 months, as long as you were paying Council Tax during this time.
If we decide that you're not entitled to Council Tax Reduction, we will write to you and explain the reasons why.
If you have been awarded Council Tax Reduction, you'll receive a revised bill only. Your new bill will be available to view, if you have an online account.
