Street naming and numbering is the responsibility of local authorities and is carried out in conjunction with property developers, community groups and local councillors. For further information please see the Conventions and Policy and Procedures documents below.
We are governed by the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982, Section 97 and addressing complies to the British Standard (BS7666).

The following street naming and numbering services can be requested by filling in the forms below:
- Add or change a property name
- Amend an existing address format (this should not be used to confirm residence or ownership details)
- Register new properties
- Request street name(s) for new housing developments
- The provision of documentation to confirm official address details
Charges for this service
There is an administration charge associated with the provision of the Street Naming and Numbering service. The charges reflect the administration costs associated with the following services:

For the addition of any subsequent plot (per address) | £8 |
For the addition of any street name(s) [single charge irrespective of number if streets required] | £200 |
A charge of £80 will be incurred for development remixes which result in a change to previously issued address details or supplementary information (numbering layout plans, numbering schedules). Any different or additional addresses to those issued as the result of a remix will be charged at the rate above.
