Other support options
Homeowners’ Support Fund
You may be able to get help from the Scottish Government if you are at risk of repossession. There are 2 schemes:
- Mortgage to Shared Equity - where the Scottish Government buys a share of your home to reduce your mortgage
- Mortgage to Rent - where a social landlord buys your home but you stay there as a tenant

Help with mortgage interest
If you get certain benefits, you may get help to pay mortgage interest through the Support for Mortgage Interest (SMI) scheme.
This can help pay:
- mortgage interest
- some home improvement loans

You can complete a Housing Options Plan (HOP) to explore your choices.
It:
- asks about your situation
- takes about 15 to 20 minutes
- gives you options to help with your housing
