In 2018/19, the Scottish Government asked all councils to create Rapid Rehousing Transition Plans (RRTPs). Our plan set out how we would, over five years:
- improve access to housing
- support people who are homeless or at risk
Our approach
If we cannot prevent homelessness, we focus on helping people get a stable home as quickly as possible. We do this by:
- moving people into settled housing quickly
- keeping time in temporary accommodation short
- reducing the number of moves people have to make
- using homes in local communities for temporary stays
- offering Housing First for people with complex needs
- providing specialist, trauma-informed support when needed
Our current strategy
In 2024, we brought the RRTP into Fife’s Homelessness Strategy 2024 to 2027. This helps us:
- prevent homelessness earlier
- increase the supply of housing
- improve outcomes for people
What we are doing
We run projects to support rapid rehousing and prevent homelessness. This includes:
- Housing First - giving people a permanent home first, with support around them
- turning temporary homes into permanent homes
- supporting access to private rented housing
- building and buying homes
- bringing empty homes back into use
We work with partners and services to:
- act early to stop problems getting worse
- join up support services
- give people the right help at the right time
Our Whole System Approach shows how we work together to prevent homelessness.
