If you need urgent help

If you have no heating, no power, a gas emergency, or are worried about being disconnected, get help immediately.

If you have an energy emergency:

  • call 105 if you have a power cut
  • call 0800 111 999 if you smell gas or have a gas emergency
  • contact your energy supplier if your meter is faulty

If you cannot afford to top up or pay your bill

Contact your energy supplier straight away. They may help you by:

  • setting up a payment plan
  • offering emergency credit or support
  • preventing disconnection

If you rent your home, contact your landlord or housing officer as they may be able to offer support or advice.

Priority Services Register

The Priority Services Register (PSR) is a free service that gives extra support if you need help managing your energy supply.

You may benefit if you:

  • are over the age of 60
  • live with children under 5
  • have a disability or health condition
  • use medical equipment reliant on electricity
  • temporarily need extra support because of illness, injury or a change in circumstances

Support can include:

  • priority help during power cuts
  • advance notice of planned outages
  • information in accessible formats
