Roadside campsites
We work with Gypsy/Travellers, Police Scotland and partner agencies to manage roadside camps safely and fairly.
Site Managers will:
- visit camps to check they are in a safe and suitable location
- work with residents to help keep the area clean and well maintained
- provide a copy of the Good Neighbour Guide
How roadside campsites are managed
Our approach is guided by our Cooperation Policy, which sets out the responsibilities of:
- the Council
- Gypsy/Travellers
- the settled community
Public bodies have a legal duty not to discriminate against Gypsy/Travellers when dealing with roadside campsites.
