Touch Primary School is a large primary school that serves the communities of East Dunfermline. The school has a roll of 350 and the nursery attached caters for 100 three and four year olds.
Children from the surrounding areas of Touch, Garvock, Bellyeoman and the Eastern expansion of Dunfermline attend the school and nursery. The school serves a very mixed catchment of private and public housing and caters for a very broad spectrum of socio/economic groupings. This is a strength of the school.
Touch School was built in the 1970s and is in reasonable repair. The interior has been improved over the last few years. A large tarmacked play area surrounds the school and there is also a large blaize football pitch in the grounds. There has been a major audit of the school playground and its environs with a view to future investment.
Touch Primary has a very active Parent Council who support the work of the school and incorporates the PTSA which raises funds and supports school initiatives. The Gala Committee also works hard each year to support a very large attendance at the Dunfermline Gala.
The school enjoys a very good and purposeful relationship with parents. Many classes visit the surrounding area and community for environmental studies or for concerts and performances.
