Lynburn Primary School opened in the 1960s and is situated in the heart of the Abbeyview area in Dunfermline. Abbeyview is one of Fife's designated regeneration areas.
The school building houses 10 classrooms, a large nursery, a computer suite, a conference room, gym hall, dining hall, library and office accommodation. Two medway huts are situated in the P2 playground area.
A controlled entry system operates on all external doors. Extensive tarmac and grassed play areas are used for playtimes and outdoor games.
Our aim is to create an ethos within the school environment where pupils, parents and staff work together in partnership to provide the highest possible standard of education for all pupils. The staff are totally committed to meeting the needs of our children.
The Expressive Arts curriculum is enhanced by regular visits from Music, Drama, PE and Art and Design specialists. A small number of pupils in the upper school are learning to play various wind instruments. We have one full time Learning Support teacher and one 0.2 Learning Support teacher.
The Behaviour Support Unit is now based at Lynburn.
The School Board has run successfully for a number of years. Our Pupil Council meets monthly to discuss concerns and issues raised by the pupils.
Our extra curricular programme includes netball, art class, dance class and After School Sports Clubs.
We are pleased to meet with parents who wish to discuss any aspects of our school.
Please remember that the school buildings and grounds are covered by Fife Council's No smoking Policy. It is an offence to smoke in the building or in the grounds.
