Recycling points are areas in your local community that have large recycling containers for each material, but not all points accepts every type. They make it easier for you to recycle smaller items such as glass, cans and textiles without visiting your nearest household waste and recycling centre.
Finding your nearest recycling point
With over 260 points across Fife, you will find them in local car parks at various:
- supermarkets
- community centres
- libraries
Most recycling points are located in open car parks and are accessible 24 hours a day.

Things you can take to a recycling point
You can recycle some, if not all, of the following:
- food and drinks cans
- mixed glass bottles and jars
- paper and cardboard
- plastic packaging
Ensure your recycling is separated into the correct containers for collection.
There may be some occasions where 'cans and plastics, and paper and cardboard' containers are collected by the same vehicle. If this does happen, all recycling is separated by a re-processor at a recycling facility.
Recycling textiles and clothing
Textile and clothing recycling banks are located at many recycling points in Fife.
We accept:
- All types of clothing - clothing should be dry and wearable
- Soft toys
- Household materials, such as curtains, towels, duvet covers, pillowcases, blankets, tablecloths & linens
- Paired shoes
- Handbags
We do not accept:
- Workwear, uniforms, wet, dirty or soiled clothing
- Quilts, duvets, cushions, pillows or carpets
- Books, magazines, newspapers, files, folders or stationery
- CDs plates, cutlery, crockery, ornaments, hard toys
