Roadworks planned for A985, in Rosyth, as work progresses on new Caledonia High School

Artists impression of Caledonia High SchoolWork to improve pedestrian and cyclist access around the site of the new Caledonia High School will begin soon, meaning some disruption on local roads. The first phase of the work includes a new, multi-use path being installed along the south side of Admiralty Road (A985), as one of a number of enhanced safety measures being put in place in advance of the school opening.

This section of the planned works is expected to take around 18 weeks. The orks will be carried out at night to try to minimise disruption but there will be a lane closure with temporary traffic lights in place and also pedestrian diversions.

It's expected that work will begin in mid- August.

Alastair Drummond, Fife Council's Schools Replacement Programme Manager, said: "The work that we are planning is essential before the new school opens. The safety of those travelling to school on foot, or cycling and scooting, will be much improved with the installation of this multi-use path.

"We are aware that this is a very busy section of road and that there will be disruption to traffic during this first phase of the works but we will do everything we can to minimise this. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience this will cause but it is a necessary part of the project.

"As soon as we have a fixed start date we'll notify the public, so that they have the chance to plan their route well in advance. As the works progress we'll be monitoring the situation on the road and make any necessary adjustments."
