New street lighting is to be installed in Keir Hardie Street, in Methil as a way of combatting anti-social behaviour and reducing the fear of crime.
Levenmouth Area Committee today agreed to cover the £5,864 cost of additional lighting for this heavily used path, in the hope that it will encourage more walking and cycling as it deters anti-social behaviour.
Committee Convenor Cllr Colin Davidson said: “This is a really simple solution to a few problems in the area and all members were really supportive of the idea. It’s a good example of an issue being raised locally and then worked through with representatives of the local community and local elected members.
“Members in ward 22 have been supportive of this proposal from the beginning and have been proactive in ensuring that local representatives have been part of the discussion to reach a satisfactory outcome to a local concern. “This is just one of a number of ways we have been making a difference in trying to deter anti-social behaviour and helping local people feel safer when out and about in the community. “
