Everyone is welcome to a drop-in information event being held all next week about foster carer, adoption, supported lodgings and Shared Lives. Take the chance to meet and chat with foster carers, adopters and social workers to learn what it's all about.
The free event will be at the Kingdom Shopping Centre, Glenrothes, next to BB's Café starting Monday 1 to Saturday 6 September from 10am-6pm each day.
It is being held by Fife Council's Family Based Care Team, who support foster carers, adopters, kinship carers, and supported lodgings carers who all in turn look after and care for local children and young people in Fife.
Foster carer Nic Mcauley says: "I am a single foster carer, a parent, and also work part time, and I find being a foster carer so rewarding. To open our home to a young person and have them be part of out family as well as supporting him with his own family ties. We have had various ages and experiences in being a foster carer and have had some great training courses to help support and enhance my caring role and built good relationships with fellow carers."
Kelly Blaik, Fostering Team Manager, said: "We're very excited to see people at our week-long event to answer questions about caring for young Fifers. All our carers are such incredible people, who do amazing work, so we give them as much and support as possible!
"There are lots of options available to anyone interested in helping local children and young people. We appreciate people live busy lives, so even if you have just one weekend a month to give a child - you'll be making the world of difference to their happiness and wellbeing.
"Please come along for a chat and to find out more."
Fife Council currently has just over 200 fostering households, who support children and young people in a variety of ways by offering a safe, secure and supportive home environment to give them a chance to enjoy their youth, build their confidence and become independent.
Children can be fostered from birth until their 18th birthday, with new legislation supporting young people to stay with their former foster carer until they are 21.

Supported lodgings is a Fife Council scheme providing in-home accommodation and support to Fife's young people 16 and over who are leaving care or facing homelessness.
There's lots of information about the scheme on Supported lodgings scheme | Fife Council.
Fife Council is an adoption agency currently undertaking assessments of prospective adopters. We already have our maximum 5 new households registered to attend out preparation group in October and would welcome new applications for our preparation group scheduled for early 2026.
