Fife kinship carers enjoy annual Burntisland fun day despite the rain

Kinship carers Burntisland fund day 2025Over 450 Fife kinship carers and their families braved the elements and enjoyed Fife Council Kinship Team's Burntisland fun day.

With a large marquee to keep everyone dry and waterproofs and wellies for outdoors, neither rain nor wind stopped the festivities at this year's fun day, which also marked the Kinship Team's 10th anniversary in 2025.

Children and grown ups alike enjoyed face painting, balloon modelling, animals, dancing, sports, entertainers, and plenty of food.

The event was also attended by Fife Council Chief Executive, Ken Gourlay, and Fife Council leader David Ross, who both congratulated our kinship carers for their dedication and positive impact on the children in their care.

James Ross, Fife Council Head of Children and Families of Criminal Justice said: “Events like these hosted by our incredible Kinship Team for our local kinship carers allows the carers and their families to connect, come together and have fun. It allows carers to take a break and enjoy themselves, while the kids get to have a great time and interact with other children - a fantastic win-win all around."

Emma King, Fife Council Kinship Team Manager commented: "The sun didn’t quite make it out on Saturday, but that did not stop us from having a brilliant time celebrating kinship care. Our Kinship Team has been supporting our carers and their families for 10 years, so this year's celebrations were particularly close to our hearts. If you or someone you know cares for a child related to them, get in touch with us as we can help you get the support you need."

All Fife kinship carers can access a range of Kinship Care Groups where carers can discuss issues affecting them and their own experiences with other local carers. Please contact Fife Kinship Team for information of times and venues of current groups running in your area.
