In the recent UK Government spending review it was confirmed that Kirkcaldy High Street and the seafront have been selected as priorities for the Growth Mission Fund. This initiative will allocate £240 million in capital funding between 2026/27 and 2029/30 to support projects aimed at creating local jobs and revitalising communities.
Ken Gourlay, Chief Executive of Fife Council said: "The announcement is a significant milestone for Kirkcaldy and for Fife as a whole.
"The prioritisation of Kirkcaldy’s High Street and seafront for investment through the UK Government’s new Growth Mission Fund is a welcome recognition of the town’s potential and the hard work of our communities and partners.
"Fife Council has long been committed to the regeneration of Kirkcaldy town centre, and this new funding will help us accelerate our plans to create a vibrant, inclusive and economically resilient town. We are already progressing key projects, including the demolition of the Esplanade multistorey car parks and the redevelopment of the former Postings site. This new support will allow us to build on that momentum.

David Ross, Leader of Fife Council said: "This is a clear signal that our town is back on the national agenda. The Chancellor’s decision to prioritise Kirkcaldy for investment through the Growth Mission Fund is a direct result of strong local advocacy and a shared vision for renewal.
