Fife Council hosts another successful jobs fair

People attending jobs fairFIFE Council has held another busy jobs fair at Dunfermline's Glen Pavilion with people coming from across Fife to find out about career opportunities and job vacancies.

For the past two years, there have been three successful job fair events with over 500 job seekers attending on each occasion. Attendees learned more about working for Fife Council, with feedback from service representatives being extremely positive.

Organised in partnership with DWP, the event on 8th October hosted presentations from a range of council services and offered opportunities to speak to current staff about vacancies on offer and what it's like to work with Fife Council.

Community Jobs Clubs, Employability Service and Deaf Communication Service also attended to offer informal chats about people’s interests, skills and experience which will enable them to match them to vacancies or to guide them through the online application process.

DWP, Kingdom Works, Skills Development Scotland, Fife Voluntary Action, Citizens Advice Fife, BRAG, DWP Disability Employer and Childcare representatives, Fife College and Gingerbread were also available to support applicants, where required.

Fife Council's head of HR, Sharon McKenzie, said: "It was fantastic to see such a busy event in Dunfermline this week.  I'm confident that those who attended will have found it extremely worthwhile, either to learn about the types of jobs the council offers or to actively see what current vacancies we have and to apply for something that suits them.

"Our workforce makes such a difference in all sorts of ways. They care for our elderly, inspire youngsters in the classroom, keep our parks well maintained, fill potholes, and help secure housing for homeless families. They empty bins, cook school dinners, answer emergency calls on our community alarms line, support businesses to expand and boost the local economy.

"We have a variety of contract options including part time, term time and full time and, in some cases, varied and flexible shift patterns too so that there is something that might suit individual circumstances."

For those who didn't make the event, a list of current vacancies can be found at www.fife.gov.uk/jobs.
