The "Bring the Brood" initiative, a community-led whole-family activity programme, has made significant strides in fostering family bonds and promoting well-being.
Since its launch in January 2024, the project has recorded 612 attendances from 49 families, with overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants.
The programme, delivered by Fife Council, offers weekly sessions that include cooking, active games, and creative activities. Families have enjoyed preparing nutritious meals together, engaging in physical activities, and participating in creative tasks. The inclusive atmosphere has been particularly beneficial for neurodiverse children and families with additional needs, promoting independence, confidence and social inclusion.
Feedback highlights strong outcomes in bonding, well-being, cooking confidence, and skill development. Participants have praised the project's ability to provide a no-pressure, low-cost environment for families to spend meaningful time together.
Cllr David Barratt, Area Convener for South and West Fife Area Committee, praised the initiative: "Bring the Brood has been a fantastic investment for our community. The £10,179 funding from the Area Committee has enabled families to come together, build stronger bonds, and enjoy a variety of activities in a supportive environment.
“We’re proud to support such a valuable project that makes a real difference in people's lives."
Three more blocks of sessions are planned between autumn 2025 and spring 2026, with half of the project's funding still available. The team aims to recruit more volunteers and provide resources for families to sustain the experience at home.
