Demolition continues at the Glenwood Centre, Glenrothes

Work to demolish the Glenwood Centre in Glenrothes is progressing well.Standing in front of the fenced off flats to be demolished - Norman Laird, Community Manager for Glenrothes; Cllr Altany Craik, Spokesperson for Finance, Economy and Strategic Planning , Cllr. Ross Vettraino, Depute Convener – Glenrothes Area Committee and Cllr. Craig Walker, Convener – Glenrothes Area Committee.

Once complete, the area will be redeveloped to include housing and community facilities. The David Harding poetry slabs will also be relayed once the housing development masterplan is in place.

Glenrothes Area Committee Convener, Councillor Craig Walker said: “I’m delighted that the demolition preparation works continue as planned and look forward to further updates as the demolition works progress.

“This ambitious regeneration project has been in the pipeline for a while and is supported by local residents which will see their housing needs given top priority in the overall project. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank both residents and retailers for their support during the works.

Councillor Altany Craik, Fife Council’s Spokesperson for Finance, Economy and Strategic Planning added: “It’s great to see this project progressing and presenting future regeneration opportunities for the area and benefits for the local community either it be housing or community facilities.”
