Volunteer with Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS) and make a difference in your community

This article is more than 1 year old

CHS’s Fife area support team are recruiting for volunteers across Scotland to help support Scotland’s most vulnerable infants, children and young people.

They’re looking for a diverse range of enthusiastic people aged 18 and over who can show empathy, compassion, trust and who have great listening skills.

Panel Members are volunteers from local communities who take part in children's hearings. Their role is to listen and make legal decisions with and for infants, children and young people. They are there to ensure that the young person is at the heart of every decision made – because every decision, no matter how big or small, has an impact on the life of the child or young person in the hearing.

Volunteers will follow a training and development programme and have a very supportive and experienced team who will help them in their journey to becoming a panel member.

Applications for new Panel Members open on 1 September to midnight 6 October 2022 and you can apply by going online to https://chscotland.gov.uk.

Fife Council are hosting a virtual information session for anyone interested in volunteering to find out more.  The session will be held via Microsoft Teams on Thursday 22 September 2022 at 7pm. To register a place please email childrens.panel@fife.gov.uk
