Fife Council has welcomed the announcement today that Harland and Wolff has been awarded a contract by Saipem Limited for the fabrication, consolidation and load-out of eight WTG jacket foundations, which will be conducted by Harland & Wolff’s newly acquired Methil facility.

Gordon Mole, Head of Business & Employability said: ‘’This is great news for Fife and confirms its strategic strength as a centre for Scotland’s renewables industry.  With work scheduled to start from early July 2021, the creation of up to 290 direct and indirect jobs is welcome, and we look forward to working with the company to open these skilled opportunities to local people.”

Working with the Forth & Tay Offshore Cluster, the council will continue to seek local opportunities arising from offshore wind and continues to engage with Scottish and UK Governments to underline the offer in Fife.

The council will continue to work with Harland and Wolff and its supply chain on future opportunities in development.
