Parents of babies whose ashes were not returned to them are being reminded that they can come along to any of our drop-in sessions over the next two weeks to put forward their views on a fitting memorial in Fife.

We are in the process of planning a memorial for the Fife babies whose ashes were not returned to their families. While we know nothing can make up for the hurt caused, we'd like to help create a fitting memorial for all the families to share.

Alan Paul, Senior Manager said: “We know everyone deals with grief differently and individual families will have different views on what kind of memorial they would want to see in Fife. It is important to us that we get the views of as many bereaved parents as possible.

“Discussions as to how best to do this are at an early stage and we have drawn together a group of parents and other stakeholders to include representatives from SANDS Fife to help support this work.

“The group have already met with us and we have made good progress, but we’d like to hear from as many affected families as possible, so that they can be included.”

Regular updates from the group meetings will be posted online at www.fife.gov.uk/babymemorialworkinggroup

We are also holding a series of engagement sessions where parents will have a chance to put forward thoughts and ideas on what they think the memorial should encompass and where might be a good location to site it.  At these events you will also be able to ask any questions you might have on a one-to-one basis.
