East Fife villages green bin collections this Saturday

This article is more than 3 years old

If you live in these areas and have the 4-bin kerbside system, please put your green bin out to be picked up on Saturday 25 April:
Colinsburgh
Kilconquhar
Earlsferry
Elie
St Monans
Lundin Links
Lower/Upper Largo
Largo Ward
New Gilston
Woodside

Over recent weeks we've made several changes to the online bin calendars as we reintroduced cans/plastics and, this week, paper/cardboard collections.  During the move back to paper collections some villages in the North East of Fife missed a cans/plastics collection.  We will return to empty these bins as a one-off collection on Saturday. We fully apologise for any inconvenience.

The online calendars have been updated to reflect this www.fife.gov.uk/bincalendar. Please look out for neighbours and friends who may have not seen this message.

Like other front-line staff, our bin crews are working very hard to deliver the best services possible in these challenging times.

Please check your bin calendar on Sunday

We are asking everyone in Fife to please check your online bin calendar every Sunday www.fife.gov.uk/bincalendar This is because we are sometimes having to change the date of bin pick-ups, due to staff shortages. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

What can I do with excess waste?

  • Wash and squash plastics and cans, especially plastic juice and milk bottles, then put the lid back on to keep air out.
  • Flatten drinks and food cartons, like UHT milk and fruit juice cartons.
  • Fold cardboard flat to make the best use of space in your grey bin. If needed, store safely in a car shed or garage.
  • Take excess recycling to a smaller, nearby recycling point that you can walk to. (Only when you take your daily exercise, please do not make a special trip).

It really helps us if you only put out bins for a collection that need to be emptied (or are more than half full).

Our recycling centres remain closed, in line with government restrictions around staying at home. If you have items you would normally dispose of at recycling centres, please store these securely until services resume.

We know that these are extremely challenging times for many of you. Please look out for your neighbours and check that they can put their bins out on the right day.
