The Spaces for People interventions in St Andrews were implemented at the beginning of October 2020. The aim is to give pedestrians more room, helping them to adhere to the Government's 'physical distancing' requirements.
During monitoring on three consecutive Saturdays in October/November, it was confirmed that the extra areas are being well used by pedestrians:
- Church Street - the number of occasions the extra space was used here peaked at 587 times per hour
- Bell Street - the number of occasions the extra space was used here peaked at 525 times per hour
