Newburgh Park - shared use path

Stage status: Consultation

We are working with Perth & Kinross Countryside Trust and Walk Wheel Cycle Trust (Sustrans) to create a new off-road walking and cycling route from Bridge of Earn to Newburgh. This route will extend National Cycle Network Route 777 (NCN777).

The exact route through the Mugdrum Estate has not yet been decided. However, the Estate’s land agent has confirmed that the Estate supports using the land south of Abernethy Road (A913) for the new path. This option would also connect to the former Newburgh Station site, which is being considered for reopening.

It is also proposed to improve the eastern path in Newburgh Park. This would allow the Bridge of Earn route to connect to minor roads in north Newburgh and continue along NCN777 towards the Tay Bridge.

Construction: Early 2027

Distance: 550 m approx.

Approximate infrastructure investment: £80,000
