Stage status: Design and construction
During the last few years, cycling facilities have been improved from the National Cycle Network at Dalgety Bay to Fordell Firs and Crossgates. The next stages of development will target the B981 coming out of the north side of Crossgates. This will eventually form an active travel route to Cowdenbeath.
Phase 1 of the project has now been completed and provides a new bi-directional path connecting Hill of Beath to Cowdenbeath, along the east and south side of the B981 to Woodend Place at Broad Street.
A new crossing point will also be included to allow access from Hill of Beath into Cowdenbeath Community Woodland. This will be used by Hill of Beath primary school to access the woodlands.
A second new crossing will be included in Cowdenbeath.
Phase 2 is for design and construction. It will connect the route from Crossgates to Hill of Beath and from Woodend Place to the park area in Cowdenbeath at West Lane and Westburn Avenue.
Construction:
- Phase 1
- Complete
- Phase 2
- Continued design work will be completed by March 26
- Construction will be completed late 2027
Distance: 1000 m approx.
Approximate infrastructure investment: £200,000
