Stage status: Completed
The upgrade to the NCN76 route through Silver Sands Park is now complete. The previous route was an unbound path running alongside the football and shinty pitch, which was frequently used for vehicle access and informal parking during weekend matches. This created conflicts between people walking, cycling, riding horses, and manoeuvring vehicles.
The completed project provides a fully segregated, 3 metre wide surfaced path, giving walkers, cyclists, and horse riders a safer and more comfortable route away from traffic. The path has been carefully graded throughout, including improved levels and transitions near the beach where the ground previously dropped steeply.
To strengthen the route’s role within the wider network, new signing and wayfinding have been added, highlighting connections to the NCN76 toward Burntisland and Dalgety Bay.
Distance: 600m approx.
