Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information that we collect about you.

Fife Council uses the personal information provided by you on this questionnaire for research purposes.  We hold and process the information on the basis that you have freely given us your permission to do so.

The personal information we gather and use includes name, address, contact numbers, postcode, age group, gender, ethnicity, disability etc.  The information contained within the completed questionnaire cannot identify you.  It is collected and processed for the purposes of demographic analysis of responses to surveys and consultations.

We use information in aggregated form:

  • to build up community profiles
  • to aid strategic development
  • for research
  • to provide services

Your personal information will not be shared with a third party.

The only personal information we receive about you is from the form you completed when registering for the research project or membership of Fife People's Panel.

In the event that you did not provide your personal information, we could not process your application to take part in the research.

If you have been invited to participate in a random distribution consultation or research project, your name and address details will have been taken from a publicly accessible source such as the Electoral Register.

There is no automated decision making in relation to your participation in research projects.

The Council will not keep your information for longer than is necessary. In some instances the law sets the length of time information has to be kept. The Council has a retention schedule which sets out how long we hold different types of information. This can be found here.
