The Leven Programme was established in 2018 to bring together public bodies, businesses, the third sector and community representatives to deliver inclusive growth with a place-based focus in the region of mid-Fife. The partnership brings multiple organisations together who have a remit to deliver in this region and who want to make a positive difference to the River Leven and the surrounding area; the ambition of the Programme pushes them to go beyond that remit and add value to their work by working collaboratively. The River Leven and Back Burn restoration projects sit within this wider programme of work.
1. Purpose of the processing and the legal basis for the processing:
Fife Council will use the information provided by you to gain your input to and inform the development of the River Leven Restoration Project and the Back Burn Restoration Project. These projects aim to improve the environment along the river for people and wildlife, and we are seeking your views to help us identify opportunities. We are also seeking the permission of landowners to undertake the work. The information provided by you will enable us to evidence community, stakeholder and landowner support for restoration opportunities.
The legal basis for processing your information is performance of a task carried out in the public interest.
2. Please describe the categories of personal data processed by your Service or service:
The personal information we gather and use for the project includes name, organisation/group name, type of organisation, role within organisation if applicable, contact details, including name, address, telephone number, e-mail address.
For landowner permissions, we will also require signed written consent to undertake restoration or enhanced works at your land holding along the river corridor and map of landholding in question.
3. Any recipient or categories of recipients of the personal data:
This information will be gathered by consultants or Fife Coast & Countryside Trust who are appointed and acting on behalf of Fife Council.
We may share your information with Scottish Environment Protection Agency, our project partners and funders, such as Fife Coast & Countryside Trust and other services within Fife Council. In particular, landowner permissions may need to be shared.
4. The source the personal data originates from and whether it came from publicly accessible sources (including information gathered about third parties eg where we have gathered information about a third party during discussions with a service user):
We obtain information about you and/or your group, organisation or landholding from yourself and publicly accessible sources such as group websites, Registers of Scotland.
We may also obtain information about you from other project partners who have advised us that you may have an interest in the project, for example The Leven Programme partners.
In the case of landownership, we may receive this information from our project partners Scottish Environment Protection Agency and through The Leven Programme.
For stakeholder information, this would be for contract duration to enable consultation, gathering and processing of views to ensure stakeholder and community aspirations are taken on board. This would be compiled in a report format, excluding personal information.
5. Whether the provision of personal data is part of a statutory or contractual requirement or obligation and possible consequences of failing to provide the personal data:
In the event that we did not request and use this information then it would not be possible to carry out our statutory functions and provide the work in relation to this project.
