Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information that we collect about you.

In order to provide harbour management services, it is necessary for us to collect and hold personal information about you. The information collected and held will vary and depend on the nature of the service 'used'. Examples of the harbour management services in which personal information will be gathered are:-

Harbour dues notices, harbour berthing waiting list, harbour berth holders list, electricity usage, correspondence, leasing agreements both short and long term usage, card payments.

We have a legal requirement to process your information under the Harbours, Docks and Piers Clauses Act 1847, the Harbours Act 1964, and the Pittenweem Harbour Order 1881 to 1992

We may also hold your personal information when we enter into a contract with you for the purpose of berthing, leasing of land or property and use of harbour facilities.

Fife Council collects and processes a range of personal information about you. This includes:

Name, address, telephone numbers, email address, any correspondence with you, images of your vessel, details of your current insurance for your vessel, your credit/debit card details if you have paid for a service by card.

We may share your information with partner organisations, suppliers and other Fife Council Services, such as Finance regarding the collection and notices in relation to outstanding dues.

We may receive information about you from one of our events application forms.

You are obliged to provide Fife Council with personal data as part of your contract with us. In the event that we did not request and use this information then it would not be possible to carry out our statutory function.

The Council will not keep your information for longer than is necessary. In some instances the law sets the length of time information has to be kept. The Council has a retention schedule which sets out how long we hold different types of information. The retention schedule can be found on our Privacy policy page.
