Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice explains how we use the information that we collect about you.

Fife Council monitor images via CCTV for the purposes of crime prevention and public safety.

We hold and process the images on the basis that it is necessary for us to carry out our statutory obligations/public tasks.

The personal information we gather and use includes information obtained via the images to the extent that individuals are identifiable.

CCTV images may be shared, upon request, with Police Scotland for crime prevention purposes and with other third parties, such as solicitors, where otherwise necessary for legal proceedings. Our suppliers of the cctv system also have access to these images to enable us to deliver this service.

We may receive information from Police Scotland and other third parties (for example, solicitors) about you in order to respond to their requests for copies of images for crime prevention purposes and legal proceedings.

The Council will not keep your information for longer than is necessary. In some instances the law sets the length of time information has to be kept. The Council has a retention schedule which sets out how long we hold different types of information. This can be found here.

Further information on how your information is used and why can be found at http://fife.gov.uk/privacy. The Council's Data Protection Officer can be contacted at: dataprotection@fife.gov.uk.
