How to apply

Your new career with Fife Council is closer than you think!

Our application process has two parts.  You must:

  1. Complete the application form and
  2. Upload a supporting statement (please note we do not accept CVs)

Please take time to read the sections below as they include guidance and handy hints.

Existing Fife Council employees should apply through the Oracle Cloud portal. Or if viewing the job listings, clicking on the menu icon in the top right of the screen, and selecting 'I AM AN EMPLOYEE'.

Make sure you have documentation confirming your right to work in the UK to hand – refer to Right to work checklist. You will be asked to show this to the hiring manager along with other documents that are essential requirements for the job if you are invited to interview. This may include qualification certificate, driving licence, professional membership.


If you are the successful candidate and are a British/Irish Citizen, your manager is required to meet with you in person to view and copy your original documents confirming your right to work in the UK before you start work for Fife Council.

If you are not a British or Irish citizen, it is likely that you will be required to evidence your right to work in the UK using the Home Office’s online Prove your right to work to an employer government website. EU, EEA and Swiss Citizens, individuals who hold a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP), Biometric Residence Card (BRC) or Frontier Worker Permit (FWP) and those who only hold digital proof of their immigration status in the UK (e Visa’s), must evidence their right to work using the Home Office online service. We can no longer accept a physical document for these groups.

To carry out an online right to work check, if asked, you will need to provide us with your date of birth and your share code, which you will have obtained online at www.gov.uk/view-prove-immigration-status

We operate the Disability Confident Scheme. Our commitment means we will invite for interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for the job.

Community Jobs Clubs provide a space where you can access a PC to undertake job searches and apply for our jobs. Staff will be able to offer advice on most aspects of searching and applying for work.


Submitting your application

When submitting your application you'll receive a verification email containing a 6 digit verification code to confirm your job application.

Once you enter this verification code, your application will then be submitted and you'll receive an email to confirm it has been received. 
If you don’t receive this, please check your Junk/Spam folder.

After the advert closes, we will assess all applications against the job criteria and decide who to progress to the next stage. You will be notified of the outcome by email so it is important that you check regularly.
