You can vote in the Scottish Parliamentary elections on Thursday 7 May 2026 if you’re registered to vote and are:
- aged 16 or over on polling day
- a British, Irish or qualifying Commonwealth citizen living in the UK, or
- a qualifying foreign national who is living in Scotland and has permission to enter or stay in the UK, or who does not need such permission, including EU citizens.
If your name is not on the register, you will not be able to vote.
ACT NOW as the last date to apply to be registered for this election is Monday 20 April 2026.
You can apply to register to vote online. Please visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. The details you will have to provide are your name, address, national insurance number, nationality, and date of birth. You only need to register once, unless you change your address, name, or nationality. You are not registered until you receive confirmation from the electoral registration office about your application.
