Fife Council collects and uses personal information to help it provide services to its customers. Data Protection Legislation (including the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018) gives individuals rights in relation to their own information and controls the way in which the Council can use the personal information it holds.

Data Protection legislation says that organisations must make sure that personal information is –

- Collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes
- Adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary
- Accurate and up to date
- Not be kept for longer than necessary
- Kept securely

Information Requests

Security and Compliance
Fife Council recognises that the information it holds is an important asset that must be controlled and protected. In recognition of this, the Security and Compliance Team was formed and has various policies and procedures that must be followed to keep the Council’s valuable information secure, controlled and protected.
