You may require a child entertainment licence if your production or activity includes children under school leaving age.
Productions and activities include:
- television
- filming
- theatre
- modelling
- sport
You need a licence so we can make sure that the child's learning and welfare are protected during the production or activity.
Applications must be received at least 21 days before the production takes place. You should consider school holidays which may affect getting permission from schools etc.
You should allow plenty of time for a licence to be issued.
Children's performance licence
To apply for an individual licence for a child, download the Children’s Performance Licence application form.
Applications, along with the accompanying documentation, should be sent to Education.Services@fife.gov.uk
Applications which do not have the necessary documentation will be returned and not actioned.
Application for a Body of persons approval licence
For an amateur production, where a group of children are not being paid for taking part, download the Application for a Body of Persons Approval Licence.
This can be completed instead of applying for individual licences (theatres, youth groups, etc.)
You can find more information about child performances on the Scottish Government website.
