Access: Bookings must be made online to access this site www.fife.gov.uk/recyclingcentres. Please remember to bring your booking confirmation email and driving license or a council tax bill as proof of identity. There will be no entry without a booking. Vehicles: Cars only - no vans, trailers or other commercial type vehicles. Only 1 person is allowed per vehicle (unless a blue badge holder). Only one person should leave the vehicle and dispose of waste.

Once on site: The recycling centre is laid out differently to accommodate social distancing. Cars will be driven to a parking bay where containers are set up for the materials that are being accepted. This avoids having to move around the site. Site staff cannot help dispose of waste but will be on hand to answer any questions, please follow their instructions.

The materials accepted at HWRCs are those accepted at the kerbside with the exception of food waste:

  • Landfill waste that:
    • Is not suitable for reuse;
    • Cannot be recycled;
    • Can be disposed of by one person.
  • Green garden waste
  • Paper/cardboard
  • Cans and plastics
  • Wood (includes MDF and logs)
  • Metal (no electrical items)

No other materials will be accepted

Examples of landfill waste that can be brought in as long as they are not suitable for reuse, can fit in your car and that 1 person can carry include:

  • Excess bagged waste that would normally go in the kerbside bin
  • Polystyrene
  • Suitcase/luggage
  • Small armchair
  • Dense plastic garden pots
  • Broken toys

Examples of waste that cannot be brought to the sites:

  • Large items of furniture
  • Any electrical items (irons, TV’s, fridges, washing machines etc.)
  • Rubble

Examples of green garden waste that can be brought to site include:

  • Grass cuttings
  • Flowers and plants
  • Weeds and trimmings
  • Leaves
  • Hedge clippings

Examples of waste that cannot go in the green garden waste skip include:

  • Soil
  • Turf
  • Logs
  • Stones/rubble

Food waste bags are not available.

Once you have finished disposing of your waste, please sanitise your hands (bring your own) and leave the site.
