Welcome to South Parks Primary School. All our staff in South Parks Primary believe in the importance of Home and School working together to ensure children receive the best possible education.

We are proud of our school and our commitment to 'doing our best' and aiming high. We hope you and your child will become part of this positive ethos.

We operate an 'Open Door' policy and are happy to discuss any aspects of our school.

Location and Catchment Area

South Parks Primary School serves the town of Glenrothes in the Kingdom of Fife and is one of several primary schools in the area. It was opened in 1961 and accommodates children of families living in the postcode areas of KY6 1PA / 1BN / 1AA / 1JA and 1PB.

We also have a number of children in our school who are outwith the catchment area.

The school has nursery provision, taking children from 3 years old in both morning and afternoon sessions. In addition, the school has a Hearing Resource Base for deaf children which provides for children from all over Fife. After completing nursery and primary education, the majority of our pupils transfer to Glenrothes High School. Pupils from Rimbleton Primary, Caskieberran Primary and Pitcoudie Primary are also in the catchment area for Glenrothes High School.

Accommodation and Grounds

The main school building is well maintained and houses 15 classrooms including the nursery. There is a main central hall with stage. The hall is also used as a dining hall and for a variety of activities including weekly assemblies. In addition to this the school has a gym hall, library, ICT suite, staff base, main office, Headteacher’s office and Depute Headteacher’s office and facilities to support disabled pupils.

The ICT suite has recently been refurbished and we are in the process of refurbishing the school library.

Play areas include an extensive grassed area and hard surfaced areas and there is a purpose built play area for nursery children. In recent years, some areas of the playground have been developed to extend teaching and learning beyond the confines of the school building.
