Building design and construction
Fife Council worked with our partners, Hub East Central Scotland and BAM Construction to build the new hub on the site of the former Argos Centre. It’s part of the Council’s £15 million plans to regenerate the local area.

Community benefits
Templehall Community Hub is more than a building – it’s a story of local people coming together to make a difference. Every person in the video below has a connection to Templehall, past or present, and their passion helped turn this vision into reality.

Templehall community gym
The local community has played an active role in helping shape the new Community Hub and although the hub is still under construction, already people can see how this project is benefiting the local area.
The Templehall Community Gym was given a new home after the old learning annex of the former Argos Centre was completely refitted for them.

Taking care of the environment
Reducing our carbon footprint and looking after the environment is also a priority for this project.
The new hub will adopt the Net Zero Public Sector building standards and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) 2030 Climate Challenge metrics making it one of the most environmentally friendly projects/buildings in Fife.
The new hub will also be certified to Passivhaus Classic standard – the first community facility in Fife.
As well as this, we’ve also:
- Reused mirrors and fencing from the old St Columba’s High School and air conditioning from the old Woodmill High School in Dunfermline in the new Templehall Community Gym.
- Crushed 425m3 of materials from the demolition of the old Argos Centre. If you were removing this about of material, you’d need 5000 household wheelbarrows (which typically have a volume of around 85 litres).
- Reused the crushed material from the demolition of the Argos Centre, as well as from the old Woodmill High School in Dunfermline, for the base of the new hub.
- Fitted the kitchen and stage lighting from the old community centre in other venues in the Kirkcaldy area.
- Reused surplus monobloc from the Dunfermline learning campus in the new Templehall Community Hub car park.
