Active Families

We want to encourage everyone to become more active and enjoy physical activity, sport and leisure. It can be done in a fun and safe environment, using some of our green space across Fife.

Our Active Families summer programme for outdoor activities has been developed in line with the recent Scottish Government guidance. Families from the same household are now allowed to travel to access outdoor leisure and exercise. These activities will take place across Fife, making it easy to find something to do close to home. And the best thing is, they're all free!

The activities we have include:

  • Golf
  • Tennis
  • Bowls
  • Volleyball
  • Archery
  • Handball
  • Cricket
  • Ultimate Frisbee
  • Orienteering – This is an outdoor activity where you walk or run a course via a series of checkpoints, using a map for guidance
  • Boccia – (pronounced bot-cha). This is a Paralympic sport, similar to bowls. Boccia is a target ball sport which tests both muscle control and accuracy. From a seated position, players propel balls to land as close as possible to a white marker ball, known as the Jack. Two sides compete as individuals, pairs or as a team of three over a set number of ends (4 for individuals and pairs, and 6 for teams)
  • Sports Fitness Circuit – This activity session is designed to build you up faster, stronger and more flexible than before. It’s excellent for those who are involved in team sports and keeping fit. We have set training cards available
  • Cycling – Bring your own bike and helmet along to our session to learn some new skills or brush up on old ones. You can get some helpful tips from our cycling coaches. Cycle routes are also available

The activities are available on a rotational basis – some will change each week at each location, encouraging you to try something new!

They are bookable for up to a maximum of fifteen people, from a maximum of five households, as per current Government guidance. There must be an adult taking part in the activity, as you’ll be using the equipment without supervision. The staff on site are only there to clean equipment and check your booking.

Most venues will run from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, with four bookable hourly slots, to allow for cleaning and health and safety checks between, as per Government guidance. Please note that, unfortunately, toilet facilities will not be available at our venues.
