Some disabled parking bays are installed near homes where a resident needs easier access to parking.
These bays can be requested if a person has a valid Blue Badge and meets the eligibility criteria.
Who can use a disabled parking bay?
A disabled parking bay near a home is not reserved for the person who asked for it.
Any driver or passenger displaying a valid Blue Badge can use the bay unless signs say otherwise.

Bays marked 'To be removed' are still legally enforceable until the sign and post have been removed.
How disabled parking bays are managed
All on-street disabled parking bays must be included in a legal order called a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO).
This allows parking restrictions to be enforced.
We regularly update the TRO when:
- a new disabled parking bay is added
- a disabled parking bay is removed
- information needs to be updated
Disabled parking bays near shops and services
Disabled parking bays are provided in locations where people may need easier access to local services.
This includes:
- town centres
- shopping areas
- community facilities
- healthcare services
- other public places
These bays help Blue Badge holders access the services and places they use every day.
Report misuse of a disabled parking bay
If someone is using a disabled parking bay without displaying a valid Blue Badge, you can report it.

If a disabled parking bay is no longer needed, please let us know.

- the location of the bay
- why it is no longer needed
- details of the person who used the bay, if known
We can only deal with requests to remove a disabled parking bay through this email address.
Ask us to repaint a disabled parking bay
If the road markings have faded or become difficult to see, you can request repainting through the application form.
