Stage status: Construction
The preferred layout design that reflected the outcome from the public consultations, held at the beginning of 2023 has been granted planning approval. It has been tendered and is now ready for construction.
Construction of new permanent buildouts will provide:
- 4 additional disabled parking spaces
- a new zebra crossing
- up to 15 new seats/benches
- 5 new cycle parking rack locations
- 6 new trees, in planters
- 2 new loading areas
- keep clear markings at the Holy Trinity/Church Square access
- use of public realm surfacing materials, where appropriate
Project stages:
- Planning consent/approved - 13 March 2025
- Tender and documentation - 28 August 2026
- Project implementation/construction target dates:
- Phase 1: BO1 & BO2, from 12 October 2026 to 27 November 2026
- Phase 2: BO3, from 4 January 2027 to 14 February 2027
- Phase 3: BO4, from 15 February 2027 to 16 May 2027
- Phase 4: BO5, from 17 May 2027 to 13 June 2027
Note that no work will be undertaken during the following periods:
- 28 November 2026 to 3 January 2027
- 26 March 2027 to 9 April 2027
Also be aware that localised vehicle give-and-take traffic management systems and parking restrictions will be required at each location during the works.
