Work begins on new play area in Kelty

Work starting on new play park

Work has started on the exciting new play area at Netherton Gardens, Kelty.

Over 40 people took part in the consultation and the final design, which is suitable and accessible for all, takes on board their suggestions and choices.

The new design is made up of a variety of equipment which means there will be something suitable and accessible for everyone, including a combination swing, toddler train, 3-way see-saw, mushroom steppers, sensory play panels and somersault bars to name a few!

The £100,000 refurbishment is being funded by Fife Council and the Cowdenbeath Recovery Fund.

Councillor Linda Erskine, Fife Council Spokesperson for Communities, said “We’re all keen to see these exciting plans become a reality.

“The previous play equipment had reached the end of its life. We’re now set to see a fantastic £100,000 new play park.”

Councillor Alex Campbell, Convener of the Cowdenbeath Area Committee added:

“I’m pleased that funding from the Cowdenbeath Recovery Fund is being utilised to help upgrade facilities in the local area.

This project highlights the power of collaboration – with input from families and support from local groups, we're looking forward to creating a space that truly reflects the needs and aspirations of those who live here."

The new play area should be ready to open by late June, weather permitting.
