Work has started on the exciting new play area at Star of Markinch.

Over 70 people took part in the consultation and the final design, which is suitable and accessible for all, takes on board their suggestions and choices.

Funded by Fife Council, Scottish Government, Section 75 developer contributions, and local community fundraising, the new park is made up of a variety of equipment which will cater for all age groups, including a cableway, four-tower multiunit, forest bug seesaw, double bay swing including an inclusive seat and you & me seat, a carousel with seats and a snail springer

Councillor Linda Erskine spokesperson for communities, said: “We’re all keen to see these exciting plans become a reality.

“Fife Council has been working hard to improve the play area.

“The previous play equipment had reached the end of its life. We’re now set to see a fantastic £140,000 new play park.”

The new play area should be ready to open by late May 2026, weather dependant.
