Work has started on the exciting new play area at Inverary Avenue in Glenrothes.

Almost 100 people took part in the consultation about what equipment they’d like to see included and the final design, which is suitable and accessible for all, takes on board their suggestions and choices.

The new design is made up of a variety of equipment which will mean there will be something suitable and accessible for everyone, including wet pour mushrooms, a dune buggy, a scooter seesaw, a crazy scrambler, a wheelchair carousel, a triple tower unit with a chute and swings.

Convener of the Glenrothes Area Committee, Councillor John Beare said: “We’re delighted to see these exciting plans becoming a reality.

“Fife Council has been working closely with Pitteuchar, Stenton and Finglassie Community Council to improve the play area a d I'm very grateful for their work and engagement.

“The previous play equipment had reached the end of its life, so we’re now set to see a fantastic £100,000 new play park.”

Alastair McCabe, Chair of Pitteuchar, Stenton and Finglassie Community Council, said: “Members of Pitteuchar, Stenton and Finglassie Community Council (PSFCC) have been raising funds towards the upgrading of the Inveraray playpark. Our thanks go to Fife Environmental Trust, Fife Council and all those who supported our fundraising efforts over the past few years.  It is good to see that this work is now at a stage where the old playpark can be replaced, and the local children will shortly be able to have a safe local environment where they can play.

The overall cost of the play park is £100,000. It is funded by Fife Council along with a £25,000 contribution from Pitteuchar, Stenton and Finglassie Community Council.

The new play area should be ready to open by mid September, weather permitting.
