Support for people in Dunfermline facing hardship this winter has been given a boost.

The City of Dunfermline Area Committee has approved £20,000 to support winter activities across the area.

It will help local groups and organisations provide support during the coming winter. Funding will support initiatives such as Warm and Welcoming Places, food provision and projects that reduce social isolation.

The investment builds on successful programmes delivered across Dunfermline over recent years. Previous funding has supported organisations including Dunfermline Foodbank, St Margaret's Church's Bonnie Brew project and Dunfermline North Bowling Club's winter hub.

Projects have helped reduce social isolation in communities by creating spaces for people to connect with each other. They have also helped people access food, advice and practical support. Funding has also been used to provide winter warmer packs, electric throws and other essential items for people facing fuel poverty.

Cllr James Calder, Convener of the City of Dunfermline Area Committee, said: "Many people continue to face financial pressures during the winter months. This funding will help local organisations provide support where it is needed most. It will also help people stay connected to their communities and access important services.

"We know these projects make a real difference to people across Dunfermline."
