Update on Inverkeithing High School closure

Monday 29 July 2026 - Update

Angela Logue, Head of Service, said: "The extent of the damage at Inverkeithing High School following Friday’s flooding is still being assessed, and the school will remain closed on Tuesday 30 June and Wednesday 1 July.

"We let you know on Friday that there has been significant damage to the electrical substation, leaving the school without power, along with water damage in several areas of the building.

"Assessment work began over the weekend and is continuing to determine if the school can reopen before the end of term.

"School staff have temporarily moved to Caledonia High School to prepare home learning materials. The building is not yet safe or ready to accommodate pupils, so students should log on to their iPads from home on Tuesday morning for further instructions.

"Pupils in the Supported Learner Provision (SLP) should come to Inverkeithing High School as normal using their usual transport on Tuesday and Wednesday, where they will be met by staff.

"Planned transition visits for Caledonia Ambassadors, Prefects supporting the P7/S1 transition and the SLP will continue as planned on Tuesday and Wednesday. Contact will be made with the Caledonia Ambassadors/Prefects involved in these visits via Teams and a separate Groupcall.

"For families who are in receipt of free school meals via benefit entitlement, including Scottish Child Payment, a payment will be made directly to bank accounts.  The payment date will be confirmed with you in due course.   Further information will be provided about a food grab bag offering which we hope to be able to make available in a variety of primary school locations."

Friday 26 June 2026 - Update

Angela Logue, Head of Service, said: "Unfortunately, following some unprecedented rain this morning, Inverkeithing High School was forced to closed. Significant damage to the electrical sub station has left the school with no power and the roof was also badly affected with much internal water damage in various parts of the school.

"In light of this we have taken the decision today that the school will remain closed on Monday, until a further assessment of the damage and subsequent clean up can be made.

"While school staff will temporarily relocate to the new Caledonia High School on Monday to set some home learning for pupils, the school is not at all ready or safe for pupils yet. Pupils should log on to their i-pads from home on Monday morning for further instructions.

"Arrangements have been made for pupils within the Supported Learning Provision who should use their normal transport arrangements to get to school where they will be met by our staff.

"Further information will be provided on Monday for those who are in receipt of Free School meals.

"Treetop Nursery was also closed today due to the loss of electricity and will remain closed on Monday.

"We are still assessing the damage at both of these facilities and we'll provide a further update on Monday. Parents of the nursery and high school children and young people have been notified of these arrangements directly today."
