Structural investigation works at bridge over Motray Water

Road bridge over Motray Water near Guardbridge.Fife Council is advising motorists and local residents that structural investigation works will be carried out on the A919‑10B road bridge over the Motray Water, near Guardbridge.

Work is scheduled to begin on the evening of Tuesday 26 May 2026 and is expected to last for approximately four nights. To minimise disruption during peak travel times, the works will take place overnight between 8pm and 8am.

As part of the investigation, contractors will be carrying out concrete breakout works on the bridge structure. While every effort will be made to reduce disturbance for local residents, some noise is unavoidable during this type of work.

To allow work to be carried out safely, the southbound lane of the A919 over the bridge will be closed, with temporary traffic lights in place to manage traffic flow overnight.  Lights will be removed during the day. Pedestrian access across the bridge will remain open throughout the works.

Michael Anderson, service manager in the council's roads and transportation service  said:  "We understand that overnight works can be inconvenient and would like to thank residents and road users for their patience and cooperation while these essential investigations are undertaken."
