Services set to return to new look Leven Bus Station after revamp

Bus passengers in Leven will benefit from a more modern, accessible, and comfortable travel hub when services fully return to the newly‑upgraded Leven Bus Station from Monday, 30th March.

The bus station concourse improvement works are part of the wider programme to better connect and modernise sustainable transport infrastructure in Levenmouth and will provide a modern travel hub when services fully return to the newly‑upgraded Bus Station.

The upgrades include the installation of a high‑performance running surface which is widely used at transport hubs throughout the UK.

The new material creates a surface with improved endurance characteristics to help ensure longer lasting durability for the bus station.

To improve the passenger experience, Stances 1 and 8 have been extended to help improve boarding to the new fleet of electric buses.

Passengers will also notice new seating in the bus station, which replaces older perch‑style benches to create a more comfortable waiting environment.

A new bike shelter has also been installed to support intermodal travel.

While the station will be operational from 30th March, some work to install new real‑time information screens, wayfinding totems, and shelters will continue for a short time at stances 1 and 8.

John Mitchell, Head of Roads & Transportation Services at Fife Council, said: “These improvement works will deliver long‑term benefits for passengers and the wider community.

“Whilst there has been some temporary disruption, the upgraded concourse and new facilities will help to provide a more comfortable, accessible travel experience.

“I’d like to thank passengers and the public for their patience and understanding while the works have been undertaken including the temporary relocation of services to the Promenade. I hope that they like the improvements.”

The investment supports Fife’s wider climate and transport ambitions by making bus travel more convenient, comfortable, and attractive for residents.

With increased accessibility, better passenger facilities, and improved connections for active and sustainable travel, the upgraded station strengthens the area’s transport network and the ongoing regeneration of Levenmouth.

Many of the materials removed from the station during construction have been donated to the local men’s shed charity to be recycled and repurposed, adding additional benefits to the local community.
