Roadworks on Strathkinness Low Road, St Andrews

This spring, we’re spending £43,000 improving the road network in St Andrews.

We're carrying out road safety improvements to Strathkinness Low Road, St Andrews from Monday 13 April to Friday 17 April 2026.

Cllr Altany Craik, convener of economy, tourism, strategic  planning and transportation said: “We  maintain over 2,400km of roads in Fife and we’re spending millions each year repairing and improving them. Our road network is vital to support economic development, inward investment, tourism, leisure and travel to work. Almost everyone in Fife uses our roads each day, which is why this type of maintenance work is essential.”

These works will improve pedestrian safety and manage vehicle speeds in the area. Working hours will be Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4pm and will include:

  • Constructing a new raised table
  • Drainage improvements
  • Kerb realigning
  • Resurfacing sections of pavement

Strathkinness Low Road will be closed between Lawhead Road West and Lawhead School Wynd for safety during the works. A signed diversion route will be in place.

Strathkinness Low Road, St Andrews diversion routes via Strathkinness High Road or Hepburn Gardens

Access will be maintained for emergency services. Access for residents will be maintained via surrounding streets. These works  may cause short delays, so road users should  give  themselves extra time. Bus services will be affected by these works. For more bus information please contact the bus service provider.

Cllr Craik concluded: “We apologise for any inconvenience and delay caused by these essential works and we’ll try to keep disturbance to a minimum. Your patience and co-operation during this time is appreciated.”
