Essential resurfacing works will take place on the A911 and A915 during May and June, improving two key routes in Glenrothes and Levenmouth.
A911
Resurfacing will take place on the A911 between Preston Roundabout and the Markinch/Coaltown of Balgonie junction. These works will start on 3 May and are expected to last around four weeks. To reduce disruption, works will be carried out overnight between 7pm and 6am.
A915
Resurfacing will be carried out from the Checkbar Road junction heading north‑east for approximately 1.3km. This project is scheduled to begin on 1 June, with the programme lasting around four weeks. Again, these works will be carried out overnight between 7pm and 6am.
Traffic Management
Temporary night‑time road closures will be required on both routes to allow the works to be completed safely.
- A911 diversion: via A915, A921 and A92, with local access maintained for Milton of Balgonie.

- A915 diversion: via A911, A92 and A921, with local access maintained for Wellsgreen.
Roads will reopen each morning, although temporary speed restrictions may be in place where temporary surfaces are in use.
Bus services will be diverted and information will be displayed on the affected bus stops.
Drivers diverting during the A911/A915 overnight closures should follow the signed diversion and avoid this area.
Additional works
Alongwith resurfacing both roads, works will also include:
- drainage - all gullies will be cleaned on both roads, with minor drainage repairs on the A915;
- road studs - solar studs will be installed on sections of both the A911 and A915, with standard centre studs replaced where needed;
- road markings - all markings will be refreshed; and
- road signs - signs will be cleaned or replaced along both routes where needed.
Cllr Lynn Mowatt, vice-convener of Glenrothes Area Committee, said: “These improvements are an important investment in our local road network. The resurfacing on the A911 will make a real difference to residents, businesses and all road users.”
Cllr Alistair Suttie, Levenmouth Area Committee convener added: “The A915 is a well-used route and these works will help improve safety and reliability for years to come. Thank you to everyone for their patience while these essential improvements are carried out.”
Communications
Residents and businesses will receive advance notification, with detailed letters issued around three weeks before each project begins. Information will also be shared through the council’s social media channels, and advance signage will be placed on site two weeks before works begin.
