Roadworks on A907 Oakley to Carnock

This autumn, we’re improving the road network between Oakley and Carnock. Work on a section of the A907 Main Street will be carried out from Monday 12 to Friday 23 October 2026.

The A907 Main Street is a key route linking west Fife with Dunfermline.

A signed diversion route will be in place. Traffic may be slower and you may experience delays; please allow extra time for your journey.

Access for emergency services will be maintained wherever it’s safe to do so.

Thank you for your patience and co-operation as we improve Fife’s roads. 

Works Programme 

Road resurfacing works will be carried out on the A907 Main Street between Oakley and Carnock.

To allow the work to be carried out safely, the road will be closed between 9am and 3pm each day. Temporary traffic lights will be in place outside these hours.

To minimise disruption to school transport, the works will take place during the school holidays.

A signed diversion will be in place via Gartarry Roundabout, the A977, A985 and A994 through Cairneyhill, William Street, Pittencrieff Street and Rumblingwell in Dunfermline, before rejoining the A907 at Carnock Road. Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys during the closure.

  • Working hours - Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4pm.
  • Daily road closure between 9am to 3pm.
  • Evening or weekend working may be needed.
  • All roadworks are weather dependent and may be rescheduled.

Bus Services

During the road closure, services 4, 4A & X22 will divert via B913 Cowstrandburn. Notices will be placed on affected bus stops. For more bus information please contact Stagecoach on 0345 241 8000 or visit www.stagecoachbus.com 

We’ll also run a shuttle bus service during the road closure. There will be hourly connections for passengers from Carnock and Oakley. It has been extended to Parkneuk to allow for additional connections to Dunfermline. Details of locations and times are listed below:

Keeping you informed 

Updates will be provided through our social media channels and website. Road signs will be displayed at key locations to warn road users of the roadworks.  Residents will receive letters in advance of works affecting access to their property.
