New 20mph speed limits could be introduced on several streets across Dunfermline.

The City of Dunfermline Area Committee has approved plans to promote Traffic Regulation Orders for the proposed changes. The proposals form part of Scotland's national 20mph strategy. The aim is to improve road safety and create safer streets for everyone.

The streets covered by the proposals are:

• Aberdour Road, from Hospital Hill to Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

• Milton Green, Forth Street, Limekilns Road from Forth Street to 4 Limekilns Road, West Netherton Street from the junction with Milton Green and Forth Street to the junction with Elgin Road and Moodie Street.

• Townhill Road from Kent Street to Holyrood Place, Holyrood Place and Lenny Place.

• Whimbrel Place – Fife Leisure Park.

• Rumblingwell, Phoenix Lane, David Millar Place, Colton Court, Somerville Avenue, Bankview Crescent, Baldridgeburn from Trenchard Place to Rumblingwell, William Street from Grieve Street to Rumblingwell, Carnock Road from Rumblingwell to Milesmark Court.

Cllr James Calder, Convener of the City of Dunfermline Area Committee, said: "These proposals are about making our streets safer for everyone. Lower speeds can help reduce the risk and severity of collisions. They can also make it easier and more appealing for people to walk, wheel and cycle.

"We welcome this investment to support safer journeys across Dunfermline."

The cost of installing the new measures will be funded by Transport Scotland through the National 20mph Strategy.
